Father Gregory Breen was born May 5, 1957, the eldest of 5 children of the late Dr.  & Mrs. Francis & Miriam Breen.  He grew up in Syosset and Muttontown where his family was active members in St. Edward the Confessor parish.  Fr. Greg attended the parish elementary school and then St. Pius X Prep Seminary in Uniondale.  Upon graduation he entered Columbia University and graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor’s degree in French.  He continued his education at NYU’s graduate school of business and Cornell.  He attended the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington and was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop William Murphy on June 12th 2004.

After studying in Paris France, Fr. Greg vacationed with his mom and dad in France and Italy.  He suffered an extremely serious injury in a pool accident in Italy leaving him physically challenged and unable to use his left arm and leg.  But like the “Ever Ready” battery he just keeps going and going and going. He worked for Personnel office at Philip Morris Corporation.  He   Served as budget coordinator for the Manhattan division of Con Edison, an ombudsman of the NYC Parking Violations Bureau and then as Personnel Director for the NYC Sheriff’s office from 1995-1999.

Few persons are aware of his hobby.  He is an ardent movie fan and quite adept at making sure he sees almost all new film releases.  His approach to films is to view them in the context of seeking the Christian and moral aspects of the film’s story.
